The designer can specify multiple perspectives, zoom levels, and view angles to let the view easily see the most important aspects of the 3D design. To share the design, the designer will need to specify the parameters of the design using the SketchUp app. With this, the designer is sure that no unnecessary editing will happen in the design during the process. The app lets the users see the shapes, geometry, and texture of the design without making any changes. SketchUp Viewer lets the designer share their vision with other users without them needing to have a SketchUp app. This design tool allows users to access a 3D model design, whether they have access to SketchUp or not. Luckily, Trimble, the brains behind SketchUp, created SketchUp Viewer, a program that will let you view SketchUp model designs as they were, as well as share the designs easily. It could be a costly use of resources when you only need to see and analyze the design. The person you will be sharing the design with will need to have the app to view the design exactly as it is. However, models created using the SketchUp app is not easily shared. Architects, engineers, and designers use it when creating a basis for their projects. The design application SketchUp is a powerful software that can help you generate complex 3D models. Softonic review See and Share Designs Easily

Halloweentown Quartet: Halloweentown (1998), Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge (2001), Halloweentown High (2004), Return to Halloweentown (2006) But Max’s evolution from Too-Cool-For-School to someone fiercely protective of his little sister is also sweet. Seeing their wacky interactions with modern day (well, 1990s) life is hilarious. Bette Milder, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker absolutely commit to the bit as three out-of-time witches bent on feasting on children in order to preserve their immortality. He reluctantly agrees to bring his little sister trick-or-treating, and then, in order to impress a popular pretty girl, he accidentally summons the Sanderson Sisters, three child-eating witches. Apparently 1993 was the year in the spoopy canon! Hocus Pocus follows Max, an edgy teenager, freshly moved to Salem, Massachusetts from California, who thinks he’s too cool for Halloween. … and this is the other movie you probably think of when you think of a spoopy movie. There’s silly debate about whether it’s a Christmas movie or a Halloween movie, but considering by the end, Pumpkin King Jack Skellington realizes that he does love Halloween and wants to embrace it fully, I firmly believe it’s a perfect Halloween movie. Directed by Henry Selick - who would go on to direct James and the Giant Peach, Coraline (on this list), and Wendell & Wild (an honorary member of this list) - Nightmare Before Christmas was a beacon to budding counter-culture youths everywhere, misfits drawn to the dark aesthetic and who perhaps identified with wallflower outcast Sally or restless Jack Skellington. And with its infectious music, enduring characters, and distinct visual style, it’s very easy to see why. The stop-motion flick has been a hallmark of Halloween ever since the movie came out 30 years ago. When you think of spoopy movies - movies that embrace dark Halloween aesthetics without ever being too scary for children - you probably think of The Nightmare Before Christmas. This list is far from comprehensive, but in the spooky spirit of Halloween, here are 13 quintessential spoopy movies that define this particular subgenre. And many of them end with said kids finding a community of their own, be it through other weirdos, supernatural beings, or realizing their own worth. Many of them also follow misfits - specifically outcast kids who struggle to find a place where they belong. They’re a cartoonishly giant skeleton instead of a rotting corpse, one with a smile and a quippy joke instead of an insatiable hunger for flesh.īeyond celebrating the off-kilter Halloween aesthetic and presenting scary stories that kids can also enjoy, spoopy movies serve another vital purpose. Spoopy movies embrace macabre aesthetics, without being too graphic, and tell scary stories, without being too traumatizing. The term captures the nostalgia-tinged Halloween of childhood, filled with trick-or-treating, buckets of candy, and movies that tickled that holiday itch (but were not traumatically scary). Eventually, the term became associated with Halloween, specifically the part of Halloween that indulges the fun and spooky, without ever being too scary. Instead of the word “spooky,” skeleton bones spelled out “spoopy.” The goof blew up, with other users sharing their own spotted misspelled Halloween phrases. Spoopy originated from a (now-defunct) Tumblr post from 2011, which aggregated an even older Flickr photo of a misspelled Halloween sign. But as much as we like being scared, there’s another staple of the Halloween movie canon to consider: the Spoopy Movie. With Halloween just around the corner, many are on the hunt for the perfect horror movie to usher in the spooky season. The game rules mandated that you can use only those objects available in the room. The escape room was designed to test your ability. So when the name of Challenge escape rooms came up, the choice was obvious. I and my wife are massive fans of puzzles. It was also challenging that you got to use only the available materials in the room. The Zombie Nation escape room had a scary premise. Just made it out before the last few seconds expire. Took us some time, but we cracked it eventually. We teamed up with few others and got down to the task of finding the way out. I, nieces and nephews had a great time in there. Perfect place to spend your Halloween evening, especially if you love the thrill of finding out the clue to get out of escape rooms. Will be back next year to see if I can solve it sooner. We were grouped into small teams and locked in s room for an hour. It involved a lot of thinking, team work and communication. Never miss any near my locality and we had the great time solving puzzles and finding clues. We had a great time! It felt like a lot of time in there, but as we started to fetch for clues and tried to solve them, reality dawned upon us that and hour was never going to be enough. It was good time in there and I am sure to come back. The clues were hard to find and puzzles were quite hard to crack. Had fun trying to solve the puzzles with my teammates. An hour got away so quickly we did not even realize. We tried our level best, kicked our brains and nothing happened. One of the best escape room experience I have ever had. The 2.4 engine is also now rated with slightly less power but more torque at 171 hp 6200 RPM and 167 ftâ lb 4800 RPM. 2008: The 2.4 L naturally aspirated, high-output SS coupe and SS sedan were renamed to just "Sport Coupe" and "Sport Sedan" respectively. In addition, the 2007 model year marked the introduction of a new 32-bit computer that replaced the 16-bit unit from 2006. In addition, all models now used a 5x110 wheel bolt pattern, except the LS and LT1 which retained the 4x100 bolt pattern. Other changes include a new console, new steering wheel and new radio head unit that features an audio input jack. 2007: The 2.2 engine was retuned and now developed 148 hp (110 kW) at 5600 RPM and 152 ftâ lb (206 Nâ m) at 4200 RPM while retaining the same fuel economy. In addition, as with most other GM vehicles that year, GM's Mark of Excellence symbol was added to both front fenders near the doors. The LS became the base model while the LT was marketed as a mid-range package the top level trim was now the LTZ. This provided performance of 0-60MPH in about 7.1 seconds and standing quarter time of 15.6s. This car was equipped with the LE5 2.4 Ecotec engine with VVT on the intake and exhaust and a 10.4:1 compression ratio developing 173 hp (129 kW) at 6200 RPM and 163 ftâ lb (221 Nâ m) at 4800 RPM. 2006: A naturally aspirated SS was added to the lineup. This delivered lively performance of 0-60MPH in 6 seconds and a standing qtr of 14.4 seconds. With a relatively high 9.5:1 compression ratio and 12.0 PSI of boost, it develops 205 hp (153 kW) at 5600 RPM and 200 ftâ lb (271 Nâ m) at 4000 RPM. Later in the year a Cobalt SS coupe was added to the line-up, fitted with the LSJ, Eaton M62 supercharged version of the 2.0 Ecotec engine. 2004: Initially released with the L61 2.2 Ecotec in-line 4 cylinder with DOHC and 4 valves per cylinder putting out 145 hp (108 kW) at 5600 RPM, and 155 lbâ ft (210 Nâ m) at 4000 RPM.The engine output was increased to 155 hp (116 kW). For 2009, the United States Environmental Protection Agency fuel economy was increased to 24 mpg ‑US (9.8 L/100 km 29 mpg ‑imp) city/34 mpg ‑US (6.9 L/100 km 41 mpg ‑imp) highway with automatic transmission, and 26 mpg ‑US (9.0 L/100 km 31 mpg ‑imp) city/37 mpg ‑US (6.4 L/100 km 44 mpg ‑imp) highway with manual transmission. Weight was average in-class, at 2,681 lb (1,216 kg) for the coupe and 2,747 lb (1,246 kg) for the sedan. The wheelbase was 103.3 in (2,624 mm), longer than its competitors, and the width was 68.4 in (1,737 mm). The front suspension was independent with MacPherson struts, while a semi-independent torsion beam was used in the rear. The United States Environmental Protection Agency classified the Cobalt as a subcompact car. While the Cobalt was available as a 2-door coupe and a 4-door sedan in all markets it was offered in, the G5 was only available as a coupé in the United States while a sedan version was sold alongside the coupé in Canada and Mexico.Īs with their predecessors, all Cobalts and its Pontiac equivalents were manufactured at GM's plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico and Lordstown, Ohio. The G5 replaced the Cavalier-related Pontiac Sunfire. It was sold as the Pontiac G4 in Mexico for 2005â∲006 and as the Pontiac G5 in Canada for its entire run (where it was briefly known as the Pontiac Pursuit and later Pontiac G5 Pursuit). Like the Chevrolet HHR and the Saturn ION, it was based on the GM Delta platform.Ī Pontiac version was sold in the United States and Mexico under the G5 name for 2007â∲009. The Cobalt was available as both a coupe and sedan, as well as a sport compact version dubbed the Cobalt SS. The Cobalt replaced both the Cavalier and the Toyota-based Geo/Chevrolet Prizm as Chevrolet's compact car. The Chevrolet Cobalt is a compact car introduced by Chevrolet in 2004 for the 2005 model year. Forcing Profitabilityīut alas, those euphoric early days soon came to a quick close. Unity’s high stock price served as the ultimate tool to help it acquire other companies as it could use its richly priced equity as cheap capital to get deals done. That major acquisition was followed by Speedtree, a game development tool, as well as a few others. We've yet to see the full vision for Weta unfold within Unity. That would be a game-changer.Īdditionally, the strength of Weta could likewise be incorporated into Unity’s game engine which might allow it to compete more directly with Epic’s Unreal Engine. If it were that easy well, then anyone could run their own small VFX shop and sell directly to the major studios. Imagine if creating VFX for a major film was as easy as creating a game in Unity. At the time this acquisition excited me greatly. In 2021 Unity acquired Weta Digital, the VFX tool created by Peter Jackson and his team to deliver state-of-the-art visuals for some of the most demanding projects and applications. The IPO EraĬoming to the market near the peak of the unprofitable tech bubble of 2020/2021, Unity continued to focus on revenue growth as investors rewarded them with a rich valuation regardless of profitability.ĭuring this time frame, the game engine grew more powerful and added more users but some troubling signs began to present themselves, notably, a string of rapid acquisitions. Revenue grew rapidly, but the philosophy began to shift too. Soon after things began to rapidly change at the company. It was late during this pre-IPO stage (2014) when current CEO John Riccitiello took the reigns from Unity's founder, David Helgason. The company grew with funds provided by private equity and long-term-oriented growth investors who focused on revenue growth above all. As studios focused on storytelling and gameplay the pooled resources at Unity made all parties more efficient. Unity grew based on the simple premise that a shared game engine between development studios would ultimately result in significantly cheaper game development. Originally incepted as a tool for the development of games on Mac OS, Unity’s founder, and a small team began to improve its capabilities, iterating year after year to make game development easier and easier. We need to understand how Unity got into this pickle. To understand the current environment we must first examine the past. How did we get here? And how has, what must have seemed like to investors, a standard price increase, resulted in such a severe, and likely brand-damaging, chain of events?Īnd importantly for investors, can Unity even recover from here? Some context I am provisionally optimistic about the progress. No other way to put it: a new business model for Unity was announced in a way that was hard to understand, but it also missed a bunch of important “corner” cases, and in central ways ended up as the opposite of what it was supposed to be. Over the course of the past month, we saw Unity ( NYSE: U) announce a radically different approach to billing its customers (game developers), followed by a harsh and stern backlash among game devs, then a swift walk-back coupled with an apology issued by the founder of Unity, David Helgason. Software pricing, something that is normally a mundane topic, has quickly become a flash point in the game development community. Yet this could just be the start of this new app. Having an app that takes the privacy of Apple, the design of Telegram, and the nostalgia of what Messenger was in 2002, could be a great draw for many. Its CEO, Satya Nadella, has always been a big proponent of having Windows as a service, and the same can apply here to MSN Messenger. As some emails have said from Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President (SVP) of software engineering at Apple, it would be one less reason for some users to switch from Android and Windows.īut this could be an opportunity for Windows. But for a new MSN Messenger in Windows 12 that’s pre-installed, just like Apple’s Messages app, there could be.Īpple has been digging its heels in about not allowing iMessage on Android and Windows, and for good reason. That’s a problem for those who want to use a new laptop or tablet to communicate right away - that ease and speed of use for messaging simply isn’t there in Windows. Try doing this in Windows 11, and you’ll have to try and log into Skype, or WhatsApp for desktop - but these both require you to download the apps first. When you first boot into an Apple device, whether that’s a Mac or an iPhone, you’re able to send a message to someone in less than five minutes. Nowadays, messaging apps are all around us, and while social media platforms seem to be either chronically mismanaged or drawing only boredom from existing users, it could be the perfect time when MSN Messenger is rebooted and relaunched as the main messaging app on Windows. But this only hastened its decline, and combined with MySpace, Facebook, and Bebo coming to the fore, it was discontinued in 2013. It was a rare time when Microsoft was ahead of the curve, and it would quickly bring in updates that came with more emojis, Nudges that would send screen-shaking popups to your conversational partners, and the ability to ‘Appear Offline’, so you could stay online but be invisible to others - as well as webcam support, a rarity in those days.īut of course, Microsoft 'did a Microsoft', and started rebranding the app with a different name in 2006 with ‘Windows Live Messenger’, alongside a new look. It was slowly changing from being something individuals used in a darkened room, to kids asking parents if they could use the family computer to talk to their friends. As this was before social media was even a thing (well, MySpace was trying), MSN Messenger was a big factor in changing perceptions of exactly what a PC was. 'O-only when s-school is in s-session,a-at lunch monsters l-let themselves b-be unhappy.' Monster-Girl explained, 'Sounds like I'm the lucky one.' I sighed sadly. 'Nothing that would interest you, just talking about my life as a slave.' I muttered, 'You're lucky, most kids around here have much worse lives than you.' he sighed and walked back to a table filled with other depressed monsters.I noticed that the groups seemed to be organized by facial expression and dress code, 'What's with all the depression?I thought monster teens would be more energetic and vicious.' I asked. 'J-just be glad they're k-keeping you a-alive,S-Sans has k-killed before.' Monster-Girl said, 'Hey dorks, what'cha talking about?' that black cat boy from biology asked depressed. 'H-huh, and I thought the s-skeleton b-bros were horrible.' Monster-Girl chuckled nervously, 'I'm their prisoner, and had to do all their chores on the weekend before I came to school.' I admitted. 'I-I can open it myself,b-but t-thanks anyway.' Monster-Girl blushed,I could tell we where going to be friends.I don't know who packed me the lunch but it was surprisingly good, two tacos that weren't too dry or too juicy.Monster-Girl only had an apple and a piece of toast so I gave her one, 'T-thanks.' she said taking it with her surprisingly prehensile tail. She gave it a sniff before taking a bite, she swallowed it with a happy expression. 'H-hey Y/N,w-want to s-sit with m-me?' Monster-Girl asked nervously, 'Okay.' I said nervously and followed her.She led me to the table at the far end of the lunch-room,I sat down and helped her open her bag. 'Now open your textbooks to the chapter on the soul, body and dust of a monster, read and memorize for homework.Make sure to remember the chapter on boss monsters,it will be important in the half year exam!' the teacher smirked, she seemed to like the idea of punishing her students severely. After twenty minutes she called for attention, 'Could miss Y/N please come up and read the chapter on which you're supposed to read?' the teacher smirked widely. She looked like a evil version of Cheshire cat when she does that,I walked up to the front of the class nervously.Luckily I work good under pressure and have photographic memory,I read the chapter without having to look at the book. The teacher made a creepy smile and told me to sit down, the other students gave me looks like I was a disgusting piece of trash. 'Dusting, and a relief!' a human-like monster with black cat ears and tail muttered, 'Incorrect,it's called 'Destabilizing'.When a monster's soul is shattered their body destabilizes and turns into yellowish dust, write that down.' the teacher smirked.I wrote that down quickly, just looking at the teacher made me afraid of what would happen if I failed. 'What is it called when a monster dies?' the teacher asked, she was a red cat with a few scars on her face. 'I'm Y/N,could you please show me where biology is?' I asked with a nervous smile, 'R-right this w-way!' Monster-Girl said. 'I'll pick you up after, and don't try to escape.' Papyrus said and disappeared in a flash of orange flame, the students were giving me death glares.I tried to make myself as small as possible as I walked through the doors,I had to avoid extremely dangerous litter on the ground.I heard a few monsters snicker and snort at me,but I guess for some reason I was untouchable.I quickly put away my unneeded books and took out my schedule,I heard footsteps and someone made a shy cough.I turned around and saw a greyish monster girl with a bow and plaited shirt with no arms, 'I-I'm supposed t-to show y-you around,m-my n-name is M-Monster-Girl.' she said nervously. 'Now don't get into any trouble,or Sans will skin your hide.' Papyrus said taking off the leash, but not the collar. 'Come on,let's get this over with.' Papyrus sighed lightly tugging my leash,I wished I had the courage to kill myself. But Courage the Cowardly dog is Arnold Schwarzenegger compared to me in that factor,I personally wish that Sans had just killed me when he captured me.Papyrus's golden tooth glinted menacingly in the somehow lit street,I heard cursing and fighting sounds inside a few houses. Finally we reached the school(uniform above)which looked like a teen horror movie, only about half the students were wearing their uniforms. The rest were wearing anything black and red,it seemed to be normal by the no reaction from anyone.
